SKISA Kanazawa Cup
Taking Karate to Township Children
The Gift of the Givers Foundation partnered the SKISA Karate organisation in taking Karate to the township children for the Third year in succession. This workshop was held on the 03 May 2011.

More than 350 children were encouraged to participate in the Development Youth Workshops through the sport of Karate, under the watchful eyes of 2 time World Champion- Japan's Karate Maestro, Manabu Murakami. He was assisted by founder and chief instructor of SKISA (1 of South Africa's premier Karate organisations) Kyoshi Sonny Pillay, and Protea team member, Njabulo Khumalo from the Ntuzuma Township

Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, founder of disaster management, Gift of the Givers, ensured as always that the children from previously disadvantaged and underprivelaged communities were given special uniforms (T-Shirts & Shorts) and that they were fed a good meal after the workshops. This gesture of generosity and goodwill brought a huge smile to the faces of the children, most of whom seemed malnourished.

SKISA and the Gift of the Givers Foundation pledged their total commitment to such social responsibility projects on an ongoing basis

All three of the major role players driving the project of 'Taking Karate to township children' said that "We are under a moral obligation to continue the legacy started by the World Karate Legend- Grandmaster Kanazawa Kancho, during his first visit to KZN in 2001, in the Imbele District [Kingdom of the Zulu], where the first such workshop was conducted by the revered Kanazawa Kancho

Gift of the Givers worked in partnership with SKISA and SABC on this distribution. Students of Redfern Primary School, Phoenix received :
  • 200 Pairs of Shorts and T-Shirts
  • 200 Burgers & Chips
  • 200 Cups of Juice
