In 1997, Gift of the Givers established Careline, a counselling and life skills organisation.

Run from the Pietermaritzburg office, they offer a toll-free counselling hotline, face-to-face counselling, life skills and facilitation of support groups.  They also present public lectures on pressing issues and they train their own counsellors.

They deal with between 300 and 400 telephonic and face-to-face counselling sessions per month. 

The Careline counselling service is open between 8am and 4pm weekdays and can be contacted Toll Free at 0800 786 786. In 2003, we started supporting a drug rehabilitation centre called Minds Alive and established South Africa's first Toll Free Drug Crisis Line 0800 786 911.
