Gift of the Givers manufactures blankets and the Gift of the Givers Green Bags. Furthermore, our food parcel programme is labour-intense and has created many jobs for people. In the cases where people’s livelihoods were destroyed (e.g. Xenophobia), Gift of the Givers made funds available for them to restart their businesses.
In March 2009, Gift of the Givers donated R1 million worth of new shoes to various families in KwaZulu-Natal to use as capital for them to start up businesses.
In 1997, GOTG established Careline, a counselling and life skills organisation. In conjunction with the Department of Social Development, we have set up sewing classes in KwaZulu Natal and Johannesburg.
