Gift of the Givers

Winter Warmth
The Winter Warmth campaign is an annual project which started in Malawi in December 2005, where we distribute blankets to the underprivileged. The programme aims at providing blankets to people affected by the cold, such as street children and those who don’t have proper housing or heating. In many cases the situation of these people is compounded by malnutrition, malaria, HIV/Aids, TB and other debilitating diseases. To alleviate this problem, Gift of the Givers donates new blankets to the affected people, young and old, across Malawi. We also target orphans, street kids and elderly people.

Thus far, we have distributed over 40,000 blankets (valued at K37,500,000) as a way of assisting families and individuals who do not have any means of income to buy household needs. The project is conducted in conjunction with District Commissioners as well as Ministries. The number of people suffering from diseases caused due to cold weather has been reduced enabling the community to positively contribute to the development of their areas and the country as whole.

Distribution took place in the following areas:

  • Soche, Ndirande, Mpemba, Bangwe, Limbe, Machinjiri in Blantyre.
  • Chiradzulu, Zomba, Mangochi, Machinga, Chikwawa, Lilongwe, Nkhatabay, Mzimba, Mzuzu, Kasungu, Chitipa, Mulanje, Thyolo, Ntcheu, Balaka, Dedza, Mwanza, Phalombe
