Gift of the Givers

23/07/09 - Winter Warmth spreads to Alexandra
The Gift of the Givers Foundation and Jacaranda 94.2FM, in partnership with Spectron Electronics, extended their annual Winter Warmer campaign to Alexandra in Johannesburg today with the distribution of blankets and food parcels to the community. The Guest of Honour included Ms Noluthanda Mayende-Sibiya, Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities. This event follows the 15 acitivities Gift of Givers held in South Africa and Malawi to commemorate Mandela Day (18 July).

The event was held at 66 3rd Street, Marlboro South and guests included 500 women, 400 children and 100 physically challenged people.

Items distributed at the event:

  • 1000 Blankets
  • 500 Food parcels
  • 500 Sweet packs
  • 1000 Bottles of water - 500ml each
  • 500 Caps
  • 500 Scarves
  • Three wheelchairs
  • 1 Pair of special shoes for a physically disabled person
  • A cup of beans broth and bead for all
