Ms Helen Zille, Premier of the Western Cape, will be in attendance at the Gift of the Givers Soccer Development Programme at Hanover Park, Cape Town, on Saturday, 19 June 2010, at 12 noon. This is one of several soccer development programmes initiated by Gift of the Givers in commemoration of the FIFA World Cup being staged on the African continent. Veteran SA coach, Boebie Solomons, whose book "Introduction to High Level Coaching Techniques" has just been published, will be at the event. Highly successful soccer development programmes have been held in Kwa Tema, Springs, in Bloemfontein (where the MEC of Sports graced the function), Kimberley, Lenasia and a highly successful event in Blikkiesdorp, Cape Town on June 16 where the Red Devils, officially representing the Belgium national soccer team, participated in the programme. On 21 June a massive soccer development programm will be held in Alexandra, Johannesburg. The Deputy Minister of Sport will be in attendance as well as a range of sporting personalities. More details to be announced in a separate broadcast to follow this afternoon. New, Full Soccer Kits and soccer balls are handed out to deserving teams at all events in an effort to motivate, inspire and harness innate soccer talent within our youth population. Gift of the Givers has made available 200 full soccer kits, 500 soccer balls and 2000 Bafana shirts for this very purpose.
